I wrote this at 8am on the morn
following the tragedy in Turkey. It is adapted
from a song I wrote earlier, and is a newer version
of the original.
The mist crept down the River Aire valley,
Whisps o frost still hugged the ground,
Saw a multitude of people
So I asked them, "where you bound?"
An old man grasped me by the shoulder
Brushed a tear from his eye,
Said can't you hear the Fortress calling
To all the Whites from far and wide.
As we neared each step grew harder,
From all directions people flowed,
So chilling in the cloak of silence,
That once was fortress Elland Road,
Here to remember you Chris and Kevin,
For in our darkness there burns a light,
That will shine within our hearts for ever,
Goodbye lads from your fellow Whites.
