Ridsdale
has revealed that Darren Anderton must show proof
of his fitness before he can be considered coming
to Leeds. He said: "We had discussions about Darren.
The Robbie Keane deal was done on its own merit
and there was no requisite requirement for Darren
to come back again, although he is a player that
Terry admires. Were he to be fit in the future
it may be a player we go back and talk about but
there has been no deal struck." Shame the same
policy wasn't exercised on the likes of Fowler
and Johnson.
Meanwhile
Lucas is involved in
another club v country battle. He is torn saying:
"I don't want to upset our new manager Terry Venables
because he wants me here, fit and available for
the game at Newcastle next week, but South Africa's
game against the Ivory Coast is very important.
I wanted to play, otherwise people back home might
think 'Lucas has played in the World Cup and now
he is not interested anymore'. That is just not
true."
PETER
JONES SAYS: I can understand robbie keene
wanting to leave Leeds United for first team football
but to pay thirteen million for him then sell
him for seven million is beyond belief it is no
wonder the club is in financial trouble apart
from the sale of Rio Ferdinand Leeds have always
sold players at a loss Robbie should have been
kept until a realistic offer acceptable came in
that was suitable to club and player it is time
the Leeds board of directors got their act together.

El Tel is seeking
an improvement in Leeds' next fixtures as he bids
to get things back on track. He said: "We have
to do better and we need time together to work
on putting things right. The players are disappointed
to have picked up no points from the last two
games. It is frustrating that when I need to work
with them, many of them are away on international
duty but it is good that they are gaining experience
at the highest level."
Meanwhile
Sven has elected to pick Lee
Bowyer and Jonathan
Woodgate in his current England squad. He
said: "It's a new season, so I have no problems
with them. I have seen them a lot. Woodgate played
very well at the end of last season, and he's
back fit now. Lee Bowyer is very talented and
it'll be interesting to see them play. If anyone
has served his punishment, that should be it,
you can't go on punishing people all their lives
just for something they shouldn't have done. It
was difficult to have them at the World Cup, it
would have created more problems to the England
team than benefits. But now it's over, and is
time to pick them. I don't think I will have to
tell them a lot of things, the normal rules will
apply for them, but I'm sure they will behave
perfectly."

El
Tel felt Leeds had some way to go in terms
of effort following a disappointing defeat away
at Birmingham. He said: "It was a disappointing
afternoon and there is still a lot of work to
do as far as I'm concerned. It is no good us thinking
about playing before we have worked hard and matched
teams for effort."
Meanwhile
he said Leeds were best just getting on with life
after Robbie Keane decided to move. He said: "I
am disappointed. I thought he was settled, but
obviously he wasn't. I didn't want to lose him,
because I think he is a good striker who will
score goals. I thought we would go into the next
four months with the strikers we've got, but we're
one short now and we'll have to get on with it.
I wouldn't have thought there was any chance of
bringing anyone in to replace him at this late
stage."
Lastly
expect Bow and Woody
to feature in Sven's next squad.
DON
SAYS: Does anybody know what the state of
affairs is regarding sponsorship for our proposed
new stadium.also, what has peter ridsdale done
to upset lee bowyer.
