THE SQUARE BALL SAYS: At
£4 million Dom was bargain of the century.
Since El Tel came to power, Dom was elevated to
captain and is a model professional. Aug 2002
STAN SAYS: good player at
left back! in fact he has been more safer at left
back than harte this year, and harte is my fav
leeds player well next to bridges, woodgate, bowyer.all
credit to matteo Feb 2002
RICHARD (DEVOUT LEEDS) SAYS:
Buy of the year? Well certainly best value for
money. Plays anywhere, he is our modern day Paul
Madeley. And he's a Scottish International. We
only win the championship when we have a Scottish
international in the side. June 2001
MATTMAN SAYS: Must admit
I was a doubter at the beginning along with many
of DOLs signings but like all of them except Huckerby,
they've all proved me wrong. Matteo looks reliable,
steady, a good popular bloke, and someone who
knows what he's doing - played! May 2001
BEERMAN SAYS: Class - out
of his depth? What are you on? There have been
loads of benefits to his his signing as far as
I can see. For one he's a class player, secondly
I think Ian Harte has learnt from him and also
improved, thirdly we have an overall deeper squad,
any more? Well I guess it shows sound judgment
from DO'L and the boys. Mar 2001
PAUL DAVIS SAYS: You are
the weakest link - goodbye I was at the Anderlecht
game last Tuesday and in my opinion Matteo was
clearly out of his depth. He seemed nervous on
the ball and short of ideas. On many occasions
he was caught ball watching and out of position.
He does appear more confident when playing in
defense but I believe he must improve to justify
his place in the first eleven. Feb 2001
RICHARD (DEVOUT LEEDS IN EXILE)
SAYS: I cannot believe how well Mr. Matteo
has done. In midfield he has been great. We have
yet to see him in defence.Since he has got fit,
I started to believe that we now have a replacement
for Alfie Haaland. A champagne player-Dom Perignon
of course. Oct 2000
THE SQUARE BALL SAYS: Well
it was a shock to us all when Matteo signed, some
of us bemoaning the lack of a big name signing
and questioning us wanting a player who can't
get in the Liverpool side, but all credit to him,
he's looked on top form every game he's played
for us and I hope to see a lot more of him and
I know I'm not alone... Sept 2000
